Once the hunting ground of the Bushman, and the very cradle of humankind, Bushmans Kloof is world renowned for its extraordinary number of carefully preserved rock art sites, and abundance of indigenous flora and fauna. Dedicated to fulfilling its ongoing commitment to conserving and protecting the land, environment, wildlife and flora, as well as the heritage of the Bushman, the reserve provides an enriching and multi-faceted wilderness experience.

Harbouring no dangerous predators, Bushmans Kloof is a safe haven to many unique and some highly endangered species of animals, and over 755 indigenous plants species thrive within this protected wilderness. There are over 35 species of mammals including Eland and Bontebok, as well as 36 Cape mountain zebra, currently numbered at only 1600 worldwide. More than 150 kinds of birds have been recorded in the reserve, including African fish eagle, Malachite kingfisher and Black harrier, as well as many species of water birds and indigenous ducks and more than 755 indigenous plant species thrive within this protected wilderness.

Bushmans Kloof is custodian to one of the world's largest 'open air art galleries', with more than 130 Bushman rock art sites located amidst overhanging cliffs and rocky shelters. The San, one of the oldest civilisations known to mankind, roamed this region during the Later Stone Age. Guided rock art walks and a visit to the Heritage Centre provide further insight into the lives of the San people through photographic images and Bushman artefacts. Guests may also explore the medicinal herb garden to learn about the fascinating plants and remedies used by the San.

Fortifying their adventurous spirit with a range of exhilarating outdoor activities, guests may enjoy early morning or evening game drives with delicious refreshments, as well as hiking, mountain biking, archery, canoeing, fishing and swimming in crystal clear rock pools. Or be pampered with soothing spa treatments before retiring to their private terrace or luxurious accommodation.

Exciting special events are hosted throughout the year and reveal a multitude enchanting dimensions of this reserve. These range from Archaeological and Botanical Breaks, to Chef Speciality weekends and Family Fun packages during the school holidays.
